During Your Stay

Use this directory as your guide to everything available at Q Center. If you can't find what you're looking for here,  dial zero from any house phone. You'll get a quick response to your questions or requests.

Dial zero for extra towels, blankets, toiletries, or questions about the cleaning of your guest room.

There is a hair dryer in a vanity drawer near your sink. If yours is missing or not working, dial zero.

Your room is equipped with a special container (usually a green bag) provided for recycling. Place the following items in that container:

  • Aluminum cans
  • Glass Paper
  • Plastic bottles

When the container is full, our housekeeping staff will recycle the items and replace the bag.

A limited number of refrigerators are available for guests whose room is not already equipped with one. If you need a refrigerator, dial zero to check availability.

We have set your thermostat to a temperature that is comfortable for many of our guests. If you prefer a warmer or cooler setting, please adjust your thermostat accordingly.

The best way to maintain your desired temperature is to keep the fan on.

The climate control system operates in only one mode, depending on the season.

  • From October through April, only the heat will operate.
  • From May through September, only the cooling system will operate.

Note: Calling cards are available for purchase at the Gift Shop and Front Desk.

Calls to the following area codes are complimentary: 224, 630, 847, 331, 800, 855, 866, 877, 888. Credit card and collect calls are also complimentary. All other calls will be billed. Charges begin 40 seconds after dialing, whether your party answers or not.

Guest Rooms

If you know the guest’s room number:

  • Guest room numbers starting with A: 71 + 3-digit room number
  • Guest room numbers starting with B: 72 + 3-digit room number
  • Guest room numbers starting with C: 73 + 3-digit room number
  • Guest room numbers starting with Q: 74 + 3-digit room number

If you don’t know the guest’s room number, dial zero. 

In-room TV channels are listed on a card located under your remote control.

Tune your television to channel 2 to learn more about Q Center. You’ll find ideas for relaxing and recharging after your meeting. Channel 2 also includes service hours for our restaurants and bars.

If the card is missing, dial zero for a replacement.

As part of our commitment to being an environmentally responsible, we ask that you help us by reusing your towels by hanging them on the towel bar in your bathroom. Our housekeeping staff will replace any towel left on the floor.

Dial zero to request more towels.

At check in, you were assigned a personal voice mailbox. When you have a message, the message light on the phone will blink. To retrieve messages, lift the handset and press the voice mail button. Dial zero if you have questions about this service.

ATMs are located in the Welcome Center and the Clubhouse.

Fitness Center

Our Fitness Center is open 24/7 and is located in Guest Area A on Lower 1. Equipment includes:

  • Circuit strength training equipment
  • Free weights
  • Treadmills
  • Stair climbers
  • Stationary bicycles
  • Elliptical trainers
  • Rowing machines
  • Exercise balls
  • Stretching area

Cycling, running, skiing and walking trails

There are a variety of paved and woodland paths on Q Center property for cardio workouts. Bicycles are available at the Fitness Center during warmer months and cross-country skis are available in winter.

Yoga

Located in the Game Room in Guest Area C on Lower 2.

  • Wednesdays from 8:00 - 8:50 pm
  • Sign up at the Front Desk or Business Center by 3:00 pm on Wednesdays.
  • $5 per person

Conference dining is included with your overnight stay. Check the monitors or dial zero to find out which dining rooms are open.

Located on Lower 2 in Conference Area D, one floor lower than Q Tower Dining, Fox River Dining serves the same food as Q Tower Dining. Hours vary, so check the monitors or dial zero for details. 

Courtyard Café

Located in Guest Area B on the first floor

Serving light fare, bottled water, soft drinks, Starbucks® coffee, Tazo® tea, beer and wine

Special Diets

Our culinary team will gladly accommodate any requests (dietary, religious, and cultural) for special dishes. We often have what you need on hand, but almost any special request can be handled with a little advance notice. Ask one of our chefs, dining room staff or catering associates for more information.

Located in Guest Area C, Lower 1, near Q Tower Dining. Games include billiards, table tennis or foosball, available 24/7 and free of charge.

Located in the Welcome Center, Frank’s Gift Shop offers logo imprinted merchandise, Chicago souvenirs, snacks, toiletries, over-the-counter medicines, shoe shine/repair, and other essentials.

Visit the Front Desk if you need something when Frank’s Gift Shop is closed.

Q Center offers two options for wireless Internet access: Q-Basic and Q-Premium.

  3. When the Q Center login page appears, click the box to indicate that you have read and agree to Terms of Use.
  4. Click the Log In button to continue.

Q-Premium

Q-Premium is available throughout Q Center, including all meeting rooms.  In addition to being 25-times faster than our complimentary network, Q-Premium is a secure network.

If your meeting organizers arranged access to Q-Premium, you will receive an access code from them. You may also purchase access to Q-Premium by following the instructions below.

  1. Find the network called Q-Premium.
  2. Enter the network security key: qconnect
  3. Navigate to any public URL Hint: Try entering a short URL like cnn.com for quick access.
  4. When the Q Center login page appears, enter your access code. If you don’t already have an access code, you can purchase one here.
  5. Click the box to indicate that you have read and agree to Terms of Use.
  6. Click the Log In button to continue.

Internet Kiosks

Log on for free to use the Internet. You can print from one of our computers or your own at locations indicated with an asterisk in the list below.

The Fox River Trail, which runs through Q Center property, is great for biking, jogging and nature walks. The 40-mile-long trail consists of asphalt and crushed rock surfaces and connects to other extensive trails including the Illinois Prairie Path. A map of the Fox River Trail below is available at the Front Desk and Fitness Center.

You can borrow a bicycle during warmer months and cross-country skis in the winter, free of charge. Stop by the Fitness Center or the Front Desk for details.

Located in Guest Area B, in the corridor off the Welcome Center, Massage services are available Monday through Thursday evenings by appointment. Dial zero to make an appointment.

Newspapers are sold in vending machines located on the first floor in Q Tower.

The vending machines require US coins for purchase. If you need to get change for a $1 or $5 bill, a change-making machine is located near the newspapers.

More than 40 purified water stations are located throughout Q Center in the Guest Areas and Conference Areas. Greenware cups, lids and straws are provided at each station. These items are made from a resin derived entirely from plants and are fully compostable.

Complimentary outdoor activities on the property include tennis, basketball, football, soccer, disc golf, putting, softball and sand volleyball. These activities are available, weather permitting. Equipment is available at the Fitness Center or Front Desk.

Vending machines are located in Guest Area A at the Fitness Center, Guest Area B near Courtyard Café and Guest Area C in the Game Room.

Ice machines can be found in the following locations:

  • Guest Area A - Floors 1-5 by center lounge
  • Guest Area B - Floors 2-5 by center lounge
  • Guest Area C - Floors 1 and 2 by rooms C-111 and C-211

Check out time is 1 pm.

On the morning of your departure, your bill will be delivered to your room only if you incurred any charges. You do not have to check out at the Front Desk. Express check-out is available to all guests who provided a credit card at check-in.

Same-day dry cleaning, laundering, and pressing services are available Monday through Friday.

  • Place the items in the bag located in your guest room closet.
  • Complete the attached form.
  • Dial zero to schedule pick up.

All charges will be applied to your guest room bill.

Incoming faxes may be sent to your attention at 630.584.7212. We will leave a voice message on your guest room phone when your fax arrives.

For outgoing faxes, stop by the Business Center or dial zero. After business hours, faxes can be sent and received at the Front Desk.

Our registered nurse is available Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm. Her office is in Guest Area B, room 140.

Same-day dry cleaning, laundering and pressing services are available Monday through Friday.

  • Place the items in the bag located in your guest room closet.
  • Complete the attached form.
  • Dial zero to schedule pick up.

All charges will be applied to your guest room bill.

Complimentary self-service washers, dryers, irons and detergent can be found in Guest Area A, on Lower 1 near the Fitness Center and near the game room, in Guest Area C, on Lower 1.

Dial zero to inquire about a lost item.

Luggage storage is available in the Welcome Center or, during busier days, in B105 near the Guest Area B elevators. Dial zero on your departure day to find out where luggage is being stored that day.

Outgoing mail may be left at the Front Desk or Business Center.

Incoming mail or packages may be picked up at the Business Center. A handling fee is applied to each personal package we receive. Visit our website for more information about handling fees.

Q Navigation provides step-by-step directions to anywhere on the property. You can access Q Navigation from your computer or mobile device at qnav.info. To use the tool, enter the Start Location and End Location and click on Get Directions.

You can also print out directions or have them sent to your email account for easy reference. You can also use the touch screens near the Business Center and Front Desk for step-by-step directions. Scan the QR code on the touch screens to take the directions with you.

The Business Center, located at the intersection of Q Tower and Conference Area D on the first floor, offers a variety of photocopying, printing, binding and lamination services. For more details, dial zero.

Limited printing services are also available at the Front Desk when the Business Center is closed.

Store your small valuables or important papers in our complimentary safekeeping boxes located at the Front Desk. Dial zero for details.

Drop-off shoe shine and repair services are available with 24-hour turnaround at Frank’s Gift Shop, located in the Welcome Center. While-you-wait shoe shines are also available. Dial zero for more information.

Airlines

Get flight information and print out boarding passes at Q Center’s complimentary Internet kiosks located in the Welcome Center, Q Tower and North Reception.

You can also access our kiosk printers to print flight information while connected to Q Center’s WiFi network using your own wireless device. To do this, go to http://print.qcenter.com and follow the simple step-by-step instructions.

In addition, you can stop by the Business Center or dial zero for flight information. The Business Center is located at the intersection of Q Tower and Conference Area D on the first floor.

To Chicago

METRA runs commuter trains between the suburbs and downtown. The nearest station is located in Geneva, approximately 4 miles (10 minutes) from Q Center. See the Front Desk or Business Center for schedules or visit metrarail.com.

If you’re looking for transportation once you’re downtown, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provides bus and train service in and around Chicago. See the Front Desk or Business Center or visit transitchicago.com for more information.

Tips for Navigating to Key Areas

From Guest Areas B and C to Fox River Ballrooms

Go to Level 1 toward the Business Center and turn left. Take the D-2 elevator down to Level L2. Turn right out of the elevator and follow directional signage.

From Guest Areas B and C to Building E

Go to Level 1 toward the Business Center and turn left. Take the D-2 elevator down to Level L2. Turn right out of the elevator. Follow directional signage past Fox River Ballrooms to Building E. Take the E elevator to the level where your meeting room is located.

From Guest Areas B and C to D L101 - D L129 Meeting Rooms

Go to Level 1 toward the Business Center and turn right. Take the D-1 elevator down to Level L1. Exit the elevator and proceed to your meeting room.

From Guest Areas B and C to St. Charles Amphitheater and St. Charles Ballrooms

Go to Level 1 toward the Business Center and turn right. Take the D-1 elevator down to Level L2. Turn right out of the elevator toward the amphitheater and ballrooms.

From Guest Area B to Q Tower Dining

Go to Level 1 toward the Business Center. After passing Tower Bar, watch for elevator Q on your left. Take elevator Q down to Level L1.

From Guest Area C to Q Tower Dining

Take the C-1 elevator down to Level L1. Turn right out of the elevator, then a left into the doorway to Q Tower Dining.

From Q Tower Dining to St. Charles Amphitheater and St. Charles Ballrooms

Take Elevator Q to Level 1 and head toward the Business Center. Turn right by the Business Center. Take the D-1 elevator down to Level L2. Turn right out of the elevator toward the amphitheater and ballrooms.

Review the fire evacuation routes posted on the back of your guest room door. Locate the primary and secondary exits.

Do not remove the smoke detector from the wall. Doing so will activate an alarm.

What to do in case of a fire:

  • If you see fire or smell smoke, dial x44000 on your room phone or 911 on your mobile phone.
  • If the fire is in your room, get out quickly. Close the door, activate the alarm at the nearest manual fire alarm pull station and dial x44000 from any house phone.
  • If the fire is not in your room, leave if it is safe to do so. Be sure to take your room key with you in case fire blocks your escape and you need to re-enter your room.
  • To check the hallway for fire while inside your room, touch the door with the back of your hand to test the temperature. If the door is cool, get low to the floor and open the door slowly. Be ready to close it quickly if there are flames on the other side.
  • If your room door is hot, do not open it. Seal the door with wet towels or sheets. Turn off fans and heaters/air conditioners. Dial x44000 and give your location.
  • Crawl low in the smoke to the nearest exit. The freshest air is near the floor.
  • Always use a stairwell, never an elevator.

For a life-threatening emergency, dial 911.

In a case of non-life threatening injury or serious illness, call Protective Services at x44000.

Automated external defibrillator (AED) devices are available in several locations throughout the property.

Securely close the door to your room and use all of the locks provided, including the safety latch.

Do not allow anyone into your room without first verifying who it is by asking to see proper identification. If you have any doubts, call Protective Services at x44000.

Keep your keycard with you. Do not leave it in your room or give it to others.

Do not leave your personal property unattended or keep valuables in your room. Q Center is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property. Complimentary safekeeping boxes are available at the Front Desk.

If you see anything suspicious or have any security concerns, call Protective Services at x44000.

The Smoke-Free Act of Illinois requires public places and places of employment to be completely smoke-free inside and within 15 feet (5 yards) of all building entrances.

All Q Center guests and staff are required to comply with the Smoke Free Illinois Act. Q Center has chosen to apply these laws to e-cigarettes as well. All Q Center rooms are smoke-free. Smoking or using e-cigarettes in your guest room will result in a cleaning fee of $200 per incident, which will be added to your guest room bill. You will be responsible for settling this charge when you check out.

Smoking shelters are located outside Entrances 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11 in the Conference Area. Ash urns have been set 15 feet from public entrances.

The area in which Q Center is located occasionally experiences severe, dangerous weather conditions. When that happens, severe weather watches and warnings are issued for specific counties by the National Weather Service. Q Center is located in Kane County.

If a tornado is threatening to move into the area, Q Center staff will notify you to relocate.

Move immediately to the nearest Dangerous Weather Safety Area marked by this sign. If you cannot locate a Dangerous Weather Safety Area, proceed to the lowest, most interior area of the building away from all windows.

Wait in this area for further instructions from Protective Services or a Q Center staff member.

Golf

Stop by the Front Desk for a list of local golf courses. There are several within 15 minutes of Q Center.

Shopping

From antique shops to department stores, the St. Charles area offers many places to shop.

Q Center offers regular shuttle buses to St. Charles retail outlets and restaurants. Most weeks, the shuttle operates Monday - Thursday beginning at 6:30 pm. Days and stops may vary; check the This Week at Q flyer or dial zero for more information.

On Wednesdays, visit the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall, an open-air outlet mall with 120 designer and name brand stores. Advance sign-up is required and a fee will be charged for this shuttle. Visit the Front Desk or Business Center to sign up.
