Meetings and events are often seen as a reflection of an organization’s values. As corporations become more conscious of the leadership role they play in fostering communities and building a sustainable future, meeting professionals are finding themselves tasked with making that mission a practical reality.
Environmental stewardship is at the core of corporate social responsibility. Q Center is committed to making each event eco-friendly by reducing waste. Our program takes a holistic approach to protecting the environment through a variety of initiatives while still meeting guest needs and expectations.
The first step is making sure that good food is put to good use. Twice per week, our employees deliver leftover pans of food to Lazarus House, a community home that supports people in the mid-Kane County area. Every day, the shelter serves approximately 70 dinners and breakfasts, as well as sack lunches, to people who are homeless or who are at risk.
Recycle bins and organic waste bins are also available on location at Q Center. Recycle bins are located throughout Q Center in meeting rooms, public areas and offices. Organic dining waste is composted regularly, along with grass and other materials from our grounds. In the coming year, we look forward to using the compost material as fertilizer for the herbs and vegetables in Q Center’s on-site organic garden.
Being green is a reflection of our own organizational values. As an environmentally responsible leader in the hospitality industry, our food donation, recycling, and composting programs enable us to support the local community while reducing our carbon footprint.
